The Hurt’s family home

Craig and I have worked at Pine Cove for 26 years. One of the best parts of this job is working alongside 2,000 college students each summer. When our children were younger, Pine Cove would provide a camp “nanny” for us so that I could teach Bible Studies, walk with counselors, and develop relationships with family camp moms. These young ladies came into our home and got a crash course in all things Langemeier. They saw the good, the bad and the ugly!

One of these nanny’s was a beautiful girl from Baylor, Melissa Wright. She was our nanny for 2 summers and our children adored her. She met an incredible man at Baylor, Cace Hurt, and they married shortly after graduation. (Craig did their wedding).

Fast forward 10 years and 3 children later. Mel and Cace had been living in Dallas where Cace went to school to earn his degree as an RNP. Every summer when they came to Pine Cove as family campers, they would contemplate if or when they would ever move back to East Texas where they both grew up. Two years ago, they called me to tell me they purchased a lot in Tyler and asked me if I would help them build their dream home!

This project has been a blast! As a mom who raised five children, I know the organization challenges that moms face. Already knowing Mel and Cace helped me design their home to uniquely fit their family. They enjoy educating their children at home, they love being outside, gardening and digging in the dirt, and their house is reflective of these things. As a bonus for building a bigger barn, they were blessed with baby #4 during the building process.

I hope you enjoy these pictures of their home as much as I enjoyed designing them.
